Proposal

            The problem I am trying to solve is the sewer system in the New Orleans area. The sewer system that is currently in use in New Orleans has been there for over one hundred years. This current system is the use of wooden pipes. The wooden pipes have started to decay and this is causing many problems. This issue is important to any New Orleans citizen because the decaying sewer lines are causing health issues. I am backing the use of robots going into the piping systems and installing nylon pipes that coat the inside of the current pipes.

            The New Orleans government should be the people that should care mostly about this tactic. This new way of fixing the pipes is cost effective and works.

            I want my audience to change the way they are fixing these pipes. Though this tactic is already in use some the main way they are trying to solve this problem is ripping out the current pipes and installing new ones. This other method is expensive and takes a lot of time to solve. They have to destroy the roads, ripe out the pipes, install new ones and then repair the road.

            I will use the fact of cost as my main way to gain command ground with my readers. The tax payers will be the ones most satisfied with this new method. It will cost them less in taxes to fix this problem.  My main source of information will be a history channel episode of Modern Marvels. This show looks deep into the problem and shows the action of fixing it.

Thesis

I feel like my thesis answering all the questions stated on the sheet. I am awful at the analysis of any English work.

Saudi

Saudi Arabian King Abdullah Abdullah decreed last Sunday that women will have the right to vote in Saudi Arabia. Starting in 2015 women will not only have the right to vote but also the right to run in municipal government elections. An Usu student from Saudi Arabia stated, "Everything will be changed, because it's a new idea. Women's idea is different than men's idea. It will be a help, I think." This newly adopted law, allowing women the right to vote, may lead to some monumental changes in Saudi Arabia.

Proposal 2

For my definition essay I would like to write about “rasta”. Some people think that the only reason people live the rasta lifestyle is to be part of a drug using community. I would like to prove in my essay that there is a much deeper meaning and purpose to live this lifestyle then only the drug aspect of it. Even though the majority of people that practice the rasta way of life smoke weed, there are many other reason why this is a major lifestyle and why people choose to dedicate their life to it.

Pool Buddy

            I feel like this writing was written for anyone who has every gone to the community pool everyday with a friend or anyone who has wanted to. This is also a writing about two girls that are friends and they make a pack, which one of the girls breaks.  So anyone who has ever felt like that would also fall into this category of people reading this essay.  I did not find this essay terribly exciting. I could not relate to it in anyway and found it bland. There was no action or excitement. There was just a listening of what she had to do to find a “Pool Buddy”, how to not get burnt, what they wore and how she ended up ditching her friend.

Nice Doggy

            This essay was written for anyone how have ever been upset or hurt and wanted the perfect best friend to cheer them up. Yet again like the other one I did not relate to this in anyway. It was mostly directed to girls and how lucky this person was to have a dog that was able to perform all these amazing tasks. I feel like the author stretched her imagination a little too much to write this essay. There is no way any animal could perform these tasks and it does not make the reader think at all how they could do this. The reader just simply thinks this story is unbelievable from the start.

Proposal 1

            The reason I am writing about this topic is to inform people of the time my doubles partner and I lost the district finals game. This topic is worth caring about because it was the first time in my school’s history that a tennis team had made it to team districts, let alone making it to the finals. This issue is especially important to any tennis fan or any player, present or past. The on-going discussion I am entertaining is how tennis, which most people think to be a singles game, is most dependent on the team as a whole in high school. I am contributing my person experience to this conversation. My intended audience is anyone who has played any competitive sport, enjoys the game of tennis or plays tennis. My audience will share the same passion and love of competitive sports that I have. I want my audience to reflect on past experiences they had with competitive sports and remember the love they used to have and the emotions they had when they lost. I hope to present why in high school it is important to play as a team on a tennis team. I also hope to change anyone’s opinion who thinks tennis is just a single person’s game. I will establish my own credibility by giving my own personal experience and my own history of the game. I hope to connect with anyone that has made it to the “big game” and been on the losing side, because almost everyone competitive athlete has came out on the losing side of the game. I will bridge this divide by talking about the high school competitive scene. The best way to identify my cause with the interests of my reader is to take them back to when they were in the same position I was in. 

Why are you looking at me that way?

Why are you looking at me that way? Do you have some kind of staring problem or is there something wrong with me? Is there something on my face? Is there a stain on my shirt? This kid is really starting to make me angry. If he wants to start a problem, we can but I would recommend them to stop their staring. That is one of the most annoying a person can do. Continue to stare at a person after they already know that you are staring at them. It has been at forty five seconds and this person is still staring at me. This is starting to really concern me. There has to be something wrong with me. The only confusing part is that this person has a blank look on their face and their eyes are all glassy. That’s when it finally hit me. This person is not staring, they are day dreaming. Lost in their little world and having no idea I was stupid enough to think they were staring at me this whole time. They finally come back into the normal world with an extremely embarrassed look on their face. I laugh lightly and walk to see what other interesting things my day has planned.
